He has his own room in the house where he stays when we leave. It has a tiled floor, and is about 15 feet by 20 feet. He had an open door crate in there and a blanket.

We'd throw some chew toys and bones in there to distract him when we left. We would not be gone too long - maybe 6 hours at the longest, but more often 4. He would howl as we left.

Id come home to see wetness on the floor. But it would not smell like urine, would not be in a puddle like urine, and would wipe up clear, not yellow.

This increased until now 6 or 8 square feet will be wet. Again, not in a puddle like urine, not yellow, and not smelling like urine... but smellling like something stringent.

Hes male and fixed. If it is not urine, not seminal fluid, not anal gland discharge (which Im told is pastey)... could it be saliva? That fucking much saliva? He's otherwise not a drooler at all. He has no water in the room.

The vet thinks its anxiety-produced saliva and wants to prescribe anti-anxiety pills for life.

That seems ludicrous. Anyway, I removed the crate, removed the blanket he had and stopped giving treats and it still happens.

Do dogs.... leak?

If it is anxiety is there a better way than drugs? Leaving a radio on? A cat companion? (I cant deal with two dogs). More toys?

Im at a loss.

These dogs we bred to chase small animals in a pack for 13 hours a day. A walk around the block so he can shit in a bag isn't going to cut it.

Options are (short of becoming a fox hunter):

1. Get him as much exercise as possible

2. Doggy day care

3. Take the anti-anxiety meds the vet describes yourself and let do.

Its semen. No balls means no sperm but the little dudes still get something to come out. Our fixed beagle humped things and left that.

beagles are weird. it could be that fake throwup from when they get excited and wheeze. it's like slimy saliva and has no smell.
